Confessions of an 8-year Entrepreneur

I didn't have it all "figured out" 8 years ago...

The view from my retreat in the Outer Banks, NC.

And, I don't have it figured out now.

(Pssst..."Figuring it out" is part of the journey. For me -- and for you.)

I thought about sending you a nice, tidy list of "8 Lessons Learned" or "8 Dos and Don'ts", but my business journey hasn't been a nice, tidy one, so that felt disingenuous. Instead, I found myself curious about the meaning behind the number 8. In numerology, the number 8 represents the idea of infinity and continuous change. Now, THAT feels real!😁

I'm writing this to you from a weekend retreat in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. 8 years ago, I wouldn't have dreamed of taking myself on retreat just for me, just because. Planning them, yes. Taking them, no. And yet, here I am!

This trip has been the reminder I needed about how important it is to be in community with other women, face-to-face, learning, growing, and sharing. I have loved hosting retreats at various times in the last 8 years. Over the last few years, I've put retreats to the side as a part of my business because of some health challenges I was navigating.

But guess what?!? They're baaaack!

The women here, and many others in my life, are craving connection. An opportunity to just be. A safe space to talk about challenges. And, a chef...and a massage...and movement...and laughter.

Sounds great, right? πŸ’–

We need each other. Now more than ever.

As I've been reflecting on the last 8 years, this idea of connection has been a centerpiece. Not figuring it all out on my own, but figuring it out in community. Learning from other women. Creating something new, together.

10 years ago, on my very first retreat, the idea for this business was born. I had the opportunity to dream and catch a spark of inspiration because one woman created the space for that. I want that for you, too.

This business looks nothing like I thought it would 8 years ago.

I'm so glad I'm still figuring it out.

And, I'm glad you're here with me.

(P.S. If you've got ideas of locations you love, let me know and add I’ll them to my list!)
